Then I went to a festival and saw this clean 5er.... until I saw the shoddy rust repair on the rear quarter and non-matching paint covering it.
Then went shopping for foods and saw a G(rocery)T(ransport)500 vert.

i’ve seen a few of the last gen Thunderbirds recently. They looked like junk when they first came out but I feel like they have aged well.

I feel the same way. Our owner has one, and I keep seeing them over at our Ford dealer for service or being traded in. I think I see more now than I have since they were new...
Now if only someone would bring by a Prowler.

o man i saw one over the weekend. talk about all show and no go. still a beautiful car. at least they got a bump later in life but the original 0-60 was like 7 seconds.

I don’t know why, but I’ve been on a big hot rod kick lately. I find myself wanting to do something really stupid and expensive. (To be fair, I wanted to daily drive a ‘46 Chevy truck or an early 40s Ford Coupe when I was in HS so I guess this isn’t a recent obsession.) Love the car in that first pic. Mirror is epic.

Haha, nope, they’re built off the Lincoln LS platform, which frankly seems way too small for this thing. So it’ll break instantly and the 3.9L was a waste of a V8.
Needs a 5.0!

My wife was looking at a 40's chevy sedan and saying “I’d drive it” the other day I think I ruined her.

They’re both apparently real according to the sites I found them on. Not sure how the rear mounted Intrepid trans is handling all that power tho.

My middle school Spanish teacher was also my high school freshman English teacher. She and her husband restored and mildly hot-rodded a couple Ford coupes and took them to car shows.
At some point they bought a 1946 Chevrolet (hilarious because they were Ford people through and through) to do some work on but ultimately decided to sell it. It had obviously been restored before because it was a couple things away from being car show-ready. I think they wanted $5,000 for it but I was still a freshman and definitely didn’t have the money. My parents also thought DDing that would be crazy.
A year or so later I spotted the Ford Coupe in a small junkyard that was really just the owner’s collection of crap. No idea if it ran and I think the notion that it would take a lot of work probably scared me off. Plus, I don’t think it was even for sale.
A local auto shop also had a (probably replica) Cobra with a for sale sign in the window for a long time. I kind of regret not trying to find out more info about that one. Then again, not like 16-year-old me was going to buy it.

Did they put “chrome” on the underside of the hood on that Explorer? I’m only guessing it was an Explorer as even in the picture, the reflections were too bright to tell what exactly it was I was looking at.
